The Cango Caves, located in the Swartberg Mountains near Oudtshoorn in South Africa, are one of Africa’s most spectacular limestone cave systems – and South Africa’s oldest tourist attraction.
Cango-Caves-b
A relaxed, easy-paced walk through six grand cavernous halls, including the dramatic “African Drum Room”. Along the way you’ll hear about the geological formation of the caves, early explorers and human-use history.
Tour Information:
  • The HERITAGE TOUR depart on the hour every hour daily from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Around 60 minutes is required to complete the tour
Cango-Caves-d
A more active, hands-on route that takes you deeper into the cave system. Expect narrow tunnels, tight squeezes, low crawl spaces and steep climbs – the terrain can get a bit challenging, but it’s a thrilling way to experience the caves up close.
Tour Information:
  • The ADVENTURE TOUR visiting the deepest sections of Cango one, depart every hour on the half-hour; daily from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
  • The duration of the tour is about 90 minutes.

At the Cango Caves visitor centre, a full suite of guest services ensures an immersive, comfortable, and memorable experience. Visitors can relax and dine at the onsite Spekboom Restaurant, explore and learn more in the Interpretive Centre, and purchase keepsakes and local crafts in the Curio Shop.
