The Graskop Gorge Lift Co offers a unique gateway into the lush Afromontane forest below the Drakensberg escarpment. From the cliff-edge lifestyle centre—featuring a craft market, retail shops, and a cliff-top restaurant—visitors descend 51 metres in a glass-fronted lift into the gorge. Once at the bottom, a network of forest trails, waterfalls, adventure activities, and guided experiences awaits. Centrally located on the Panorama Route, it’s an ideal stopover for families, adventurers, and nature lovers.

Step-by-Step Experience

Arrival & Entry – Enter through the gate and explore the lifestyle centre.
Lift Descent – Glide down into the gorge in Africa’s first viewing elevator.
Forest Exploration – Walk along wooden pathways and suspension bridges under the canopy.
Discover & Learn – Spot waterfalls, learn about local culture, plants & wildlife.

Guests or Spectators- Spectators can stay on top and wait for the guests to return.

Inclusions- The Gorge lift experience includes access to the viewing lift into the gorge and the 600m interpretation trail on the valley floor, taking you on a scenic walk through the forest, over the river and to the foot of the waterfall.
